Are You Insured To Drive Any Car?

Many motorists have long benefited from the " drive other cars " clause, most insurers have in their policies. This means that it is legal for driving a vehicle that does not belong to you, with the permission of the owner, and that you are insured. Generally you will be able to drive another person& 39;s car, if you are insured fully comprehensive, but is assured that in the third car fire and theft. A leading insurer Norwich Union has now changed its car insurance policy and will not drive a car on people for which they are not directly insured. The " other cars " clause that was in most policies for years, now under the spotlight, motorists were advised to check with their own insurance company before they borrow someone else& 39;s & 39; Car.
The benefit to be able to drive another person& 39;s car depends on a variety of factors, not least whether the individual insurers. Other factors are the age of the driver, they often have more than 25, and the driver& 39;s record. For example, if the driver has more claims and also has penalty points then they may not be covered to borrow someone else car.
Norwich Union is the elimination of this option to drivers, as she says that too many people use it as fraud to reduce the cost of their car insurance. The " other cars " clause is also seen by the police to be an obstacle in overcoming the issue of uninsured drivers. This could be seen as a setback by many law-abiding drivers who have been able to use someone else car in an emergency, as someone to the hospital. But many drivers dishonest abuse of the system by buying low-cost car insurance for a small car and then borrowing high powered performance cars belonging to friends. These are cars that they would normally never be able to drive. This new restriction insurers believe that dishonest behaviour is slowed down.
Other motor insurance businesses are following suit include AA, Cornhill Direct, & Royal Sun Alliance and Axa. These changes are as a result of proposals by the Ministry of Transport, believe that the phasing-out clause will prevent uninsured drivers from always an easy ride. Jenson
Paul of Hoot Car Insurance Services www.hootcarinsurance.co.uk has to say that drivers are concerned that it may not be insured:
" It is always best to check whether you are insured, another person& 39;s car before you borrow it. In the past, more often than not, is it acceptable to your mate & 39; car, but now many insurers this option phasing-out. You can click on the name of another person& 39;s car insurance very cheap, if you like, take your regular girlfriend or friend in the car or your mom does not take into account their bond, then you can do so legally. Insurance will also be lenient on the people who have a genuine emergency, for example, if they need to quickly go to the hospital and the only available car belongs to someone else.
